Vietnam's Central Highlands Ethnic Policies: Challenges and Solutions Discussed for Enhanced Effectiveness

A scientific conference titled "Implementation of Ethnic Minority Policies in the Central and Central Highlands Regions: Challenges and Directions for Solutions" was held in Da Nang on September 18, organized by the Regional Academy of Politics III. The event aimed to discuss ways to enhance the effectiveness of ethnic minority policies in these regions. The Committee for Ethnic Minorities and Religions proposed the establishment of a "Department of Ethnic Policy Strategy and Policy." This initiative is seen as a move to strengthen organizational capacity for systematically promoting the rights and development of ethnic minorities within Vietnam's one-party system. Discussions also focused on developing concrete action plans to effectively implement policies and legal frameworks related to ethnic minorities and religions, especially under the current circumstances. Emphasis was placed on improving mechanisms and policies for socio-economic development in areas with significant ethnic and religious populations. Vietnam, with its diverse ethnic composition, particularly in the Central and Central Highlands regions where numerous ethnic minority groups reside, considers policies for these areas crucial for national unity, social stability, and reducing economic disparities. However, challenges such as geographical isolation, underdeveloped infrastructure, and cultural differences persist. This conference served as a vital platform to identify practical approaches to address these challenges and improve the efficacy of ethnic minority policies.
