NBI investigating possible 'honeytrap' plot to oust Marcos admin

MANILA, Philippines – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is looking into the possibility of a bigger plot to discredit the Marcos administration in the “honeytrap” controversy, Director Melvin Matibag said on Saturday. Speaking at a news forum in Dapo Restaurant in Quezon City, Matibag said that based on the affidavit of one “Alias Ken,” The NBI chief clarified that the issue might be more than just a personal scandal but a planned effort to discredit the administration. “We are looking into the possibility that this is a bigger plot,” Matibag said. He added that the NBI is currently validating the affidavit and conducting further investigations. Matibag refused to elaborate on the details of the affidavit or the identity of “Alias Ken” to avoid compromising the ongoing investigation. However, he assured the public that the NBI is committed to uncovering the truth and bringing to justice anyone involved in such a plot. “We will leave no stone unturned,” Matibag vowed. The Marcos administration has been facing various challenges since assuming office, including economic concerns, inflation, and geopolitical tensions in the South China Sea.
