Vietnam's BRICS Summit Participation Highlights Global Role, Responsible Contributions

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, accompanied by a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in India from September 12 to 13. This participation underscores Vietnam's consistent high-level engagement in BRICS activities since becoming a partner country in June 2025, demonstrating the importance it attaches to this cooperation mechanism. Vietnam possesses the potential to play a deeper role in BRICS as the grouping continues to expand and strengthen its influence in global economic governance. The country is expected to engage substantively in BRICS cooperation mechanisms while maintaining a balance with ASEAN and other partners, thereby consolidating its strategic position. Furthermore, Vietnam has recently focused on strengthening ties with France and Russia, clearly demonstrating its pursuit of national interests through diverse international partnerships. Notably, agreements with France on deepening their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and participation in a space summit highlight Vietnam's ambition for technological innovation and international cooperation. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam's visit to France and his meeting with President Emmanuel Macron were symbolic events showcasing the close ties between the two nations. Discussions during this meeting focused on advancing cooperation in space exploration and further deepening the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, indicating Vietnam's endeavor to meet its development needs and explore future growth drivers through international cooperation in advanced technology fields.
