Vietnam, Thailand Deepen Ties on 50th Diplomatic Anniversary

Thailand attaches great importance to its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, and the two countries share a solid foundation of friendship, many common strategic interests and significant potential for cooperation, said President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand Sophon Zaram. Party General Secretary and State President To Lam urged the effective implementation of the action plan for the Vietnam–Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for 2026–2031 and expressed his hope to welcome the King and Queen of Thailand on a visit to Vietnam soon. He also called for strong reforms of infrastructure planning and development, stressing that infrastructure has become a decisive factor in enhancing national competitiveness and must be planned and managed with a long-term strategic vision. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his Thai counterpart Sophon Zaram agreed to work closely to effectively implement cooperation agreements between the two legislatures, while expanding parliamentary exchanges and coordination in support of the Vietnam–Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Sophon Zaram also agreed to step up the substantive implementation of the "Three Connects" Strategy. Vietnam's economy maintained solid growth in the first seven months of 2026, with industrial production, foreign investment, consumption and tourism posting strong gains, laying a solid foundation for achieving the full-year growth target. Vietnam also attaches great importance to fostering its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Malaysia in a stable, sustainable and long-term manner. Domestically, National Assembly deputies voiced strong support for the Government’s proposal to establish the northern provinces of Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh as centrally governed cities from September 1 and September 20, respectively. Bac Ninh province, with its strategic location, comprehensive infrastructure, and favorable investment environment, is strengthening confidence and expectations among the foreign business community. Regarding cybersecurity, it was stressed that it must combine the protection of information systems with the protection of people, describing citizens’ safety, security and well-being as the ultimate measure of all cyber policies. Furthermore, Vietnam recognizes the essential role of domestic vaccine development and production in protecting public health and strengthening national health security. Vietnam also reaffirmed the importance of regional cooperation during a meeting with ASEAN ambassadors on the occasion of ASEAN's 59th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, and the 31st anniversary of Vietnam's accession to the regional bloc.
