Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia announced that President Prabowo Subianto is slated to inaugurate the groundbreaking of the colossal gas field project, the Abadi Masela Block, in Maluku. But God willing, the President will inaugurate the groundbreaking of the Masela Block," Bahlil told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (15/7/2026). Earlier, Bahlil had confirmed that the giant gas field project, the Abadi Masela Block, was entering a new chapter after being stalled for decades. The project, classified as a National Strategic Project (PSN), is set to commence its construction phase in 2027. Bahlil emphasized that the government is committed to accelerating the project to prevent a recurrence of past investment hurdles. He noted that several critical stages, including the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) process, have demonstrated positive progress. "The Abadi Masela Block has been delayed for decades and remained incomplete. Following a final decision and thorough studies, I instructed INPEX to proceed without delay.
