Vietnam and Russia to Develop Quantum Technology Cooperation Roadmap

Vietnam and the Russian Federation have agreed to promote the development of a cooperation roadmap in strategic technology fields, with a particular focus on quantum technology. This initiative aims to concretize the direction of bilateral scientific and technological cooperation in a new era. This cooperation is seen as part of efforts to enhance the importance of science and technology in the bilateral relationship. Vietnam has been expanding its investment in advanced technology fields in recent years, driven by its economic growth, and cooperation with Russia in technology is positioned as part of this strategy. Quantum technology, in particular, is expected to have applications in a wide range of fields including information and communication, medicine, and materials science, and is considered an essential technology for strengthening national competitiveness. The two countries are also advancing cooperation in other areas such as enhancing research and development capabilities and epidemic prevention and control. The strengthening of cooperation in the field of quantum technology is believed to aim at deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries through a new pillar of science and technology. Under its one-party system, Vietnam emphasizes state-led development of advanced technologies and adopts a strategy to acquire technology through international partnerships. Cooperation with Russia also has the implication of broadening Vietnam's options for technological development amidst complex relations with Western countries.
