Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce announced it has facilitated the promotion of domestic processed products to over 23,000 supermarkets and mini-marts globally, aiming to empower local producers and exporters to compete more effectively in international markets.

AKP Phnom Penh, September 25, 2026 -- The Ministry of Commerce has facilitated the promotion of Cambodian processed products across more than 23,000 large supermarkets and renowned mini-mart locations worldwide, the Ministry of Commerce stated on Sept. 25. The initiative serves as a cornerstone of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to empower Cambodian producers, exporters, and businesses to tap into new consumer demographics and secure a stronger foothold in competitive overseas markets. “The Cambodian Ministry of Commerce facilitated 38 transactions and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and promoted Cambodian products to over 23,000 large supermarkets and renowned Mini-Mart locations worldwide,” the Ministry said in a statement. Those international markets and marts are located in the US, EU, UK, Japan, China, ASEAN, etc., it stated. The Ministry aims to diversify Cambodia’s export portfolio and contribute to the long-term development of the nation's trade landscape, said H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce. "Our objective is not merely to increase export volumes but to elevate the international branding and presence of Cambodian-made goods," she underlined. Promoting local producers into international retail networks and markets is a crucial opportunity for local small and medium-sized enterprises to scale their operations and gain direct access to global consumers, she added. The Ministry continues to urge Cambodian enterprises to rigorously enhance product quality, refine packaging, and adhere to international production standards. These improvements are deemed essential to meet the sophisticated requirements of foreign markets and to sharpen the overall competitiveness of Cambodian goods on the global stage. Figures from the Ministry of Commerce show that the Kingdom exported US$24 billion worth goods to foreign markets in the first eight months of this year, a 19.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The country’s major international trading partners include China, the US, Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, Spain, Indonesia, South Korea, the UK and Germany. The Kingdom’s key exporting products include garments, textiles, footwear, travel goods, agricultural products, furniture, vehicle tyres, solar panels, bicycles, electrical equipment, electronic components, automotive parts and fishery products. Agricultural exports are mainly rice, paddy, cashew nuts, cassava and rubber, contributing to the diversification of Cambodia’s export base beyond traditional manufacturing. By Chea Vannak
