Vietnam Tightens University Application Processing to Protect Candidate Rights

The university and college application processing period in Vietnam will be implemented from August 4 to 10. During this period, a process called 'virtual filtering' (lọc ảo) will be conducted based on already verified data. Meticulous review at this stage is essential, as even minor errors can directly affect the rights of candidates, necessitating utmost care. This initiative is seen as part of the educational policy within Vietnam's one-party system, an attempt to ensure fairness and transparency. In particular, the increasing interest of applicants in science, technology, and engineering fields, which has shown an upward trend in recent years, is thought to be linked to the country's future industrial development strategy. The Ministry of Education and Training is taking measures to maintain the quality of the admission selection process and guarantee fairness, which aligns with the Vietnamese government's long-term goal of nurturing human resources to support economic growth. In recent years, with economic growth, the public's interest in access to and quality of higher education in Vietnam has been increasing. The growing interest in STEM fields, in particular, is an important sign for Vietnam, which aims to expand investment in manufacturing and technology sectors. The government is striving to meet such demands while eliminating fraud and errors in the selection process, ensuring that all candidates have fair opportunities.
