Free Rail Travel for Families Repatriating Fallen Soldiers' Remains

Vietnam is intensifying its nationwide campaign to search for and identify fallen soldiers' remains, a crucial initiative particularly ahead of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day on July 27. Demonstrating profound respect and gratitude for those who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom, the government is offering free rail travel for families repatriating the remains of fallen soldiers domestically. So far, 466 sets of remains have been recovered within Vietnam, along with 174 from Laos and 850 from Cambodia. The northeastern coastal province of Quang Ninh has completed DNA sample collection from all unidentified war martyrs buried across 18 cemeteries in 15 localities by July 14. In Dong Nai province, over 100 sets of remains have been recovered, and DNA samples have been collected from more than 5,000 martyrs' graves. The ongoing "500-day-and-night campaign" is described as a sacred mission to implement the Party's policies and fulfill the aspirations of the people, especially the families of the fallen. This endeavor is viewed as a significant political communication event, reflecting the care and responsibility of the Party, State, military, and society towards the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains. The current generation's commitment to honoring the sacrifices of martyrs is underscored by such initiatives.
