Ayeyarwaddy Times July 18 Amidst the strong monsoon season in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal, heavy rains are expected to continue across Myanmar from today, July 18, to the 26th, due to the influence of a low-pressure system developing in India, according to the Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology, which released a statement today. It is known that this thunderstorm and heavy rainfall could bring about 2 to 5 inches of rainfall. From the coming week, July 18 to 26, Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Bago Region, Upper Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwaddy Region, and Tanintharyi Region are expected to experience widespread thunderstorms, with some areas likely to experience heavy rainfall. Furthermore, Kachin, Kayinni, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, and Shan states are expected to experience widespread thunderstorms, with some areas likely to experience heavy rainfall. The Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology stated that along with heavy rainfall, strong winds, sudden floods, and landslides could occur, urging residents living near small rivers and streams, as well as those in elevated areas, to be cautious. Along the Myanmar coast and offshore waters, occasional squalls are expected, leading to rough seas. During these times, winds could reach up to 35 miles per hour, and wave heights could range from 9 to 12 feet, the department announced. In recent days, fallen trees and broken branches were reported in some areas, including Thanyuzayat Township, Mingaladon Township, Pyu Township, Maramgong Township, Thingangyun Township, Hmawbi Township, and Tiddim Town, due to strong winds, according to the Fire Services Department.
