Military column invades villages in Yedashe Township, burns down 70 houses, loots valuables, about 2,000 civilians flee and take refuge

Yangon, June 30 A military column of the State Administration Council (SAC) entered and raided villages in Yedashe Township, Bago Region, burning down 70 houses in two villages and looting valuable property belonging to the public, according to an official from Battalion 807 – Nay Pyi Taw PDF. The SAC military column, which departed from the Southern Military Command based in Toungoo, began its operation on June 4 and raided Petaukone Village in Yedashe Township on June 8 and Kyun Kone Village on June 18, according to the official. The military column burned down a total of 70 houses in the two villages and also looted valuable property from inside the houses, Battalion 807 – Nay Pyi Taw PDF stated. Due to the military column's invasion, approximately 2,000 civilians from 10 villages, including Petaukone, Kyun Kone, Sel Wa Taw, Shan Stu, Si Paing, In Gyi Pauk, Ye Ngan, Si Pin Thar, Na Jatt Htet, and Na Jatt Awn, have fled and are taking refuge in safe areas. "It is a military column that left the Southern Military Command based in Toungoo on June 4. It entered Petaukone Village on June 8 and Kyun Kone Village on June 18, burning down 70 houses. There were also instances of valuable property being looted from the houses. No civilians were arrested. We were able to evacuate the civilians to safety. Due to the military column, civilians from more than 10 villages are fleeing, and the number of those fleeing is around 2,000. Currently, the military column remains inside Kyun Kone Village," an official from Battalion 807 – Nay Pyi Taw PDF told Yangon Khit Thit News Agency. Currently, the SAC military column remains stationed inside Kyun Kone Village, and local residents have not yet been able to return to their homes.
