A Cambodian Senate committee visited Svay Rieng province to discuss the implementation of laws such as the immigration law, media law, and labor law, as well as progress in information dissemination. The committee sought to understand the province's development, challenges, and future vision.
On September 2, 2026, at the Svay Rieng Provincial Hall, Governor Peng Posa and Provincial Council Member Bun Sawan, representing Provincial Council President Men Vibol, welcomed a delegation led by Dr. Chhiv Yisang, Chairperson of the Fifth Committee of the Senate. The mission aimed to study and monitor the implementation of laws, including the immigration law, media law, and labor law, as well as information dissemination and development in various sectors within Svay Rieng province. Attendees included provincial deputy governors, deputy chief of the provincial administration, the provincial police chief, heads of relevant provincial departments, and directors of administration and inter-sectoral coordination offices. Governor Peng Posa presented the province's progress and geographical advantages, highlighting the potential of factories and enterprises investing in the province and the achievements of the provincial administration. He emphasized that under the wise leadership of former Prime Minister Hun Sen (now President of the Senate) and the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet following the transition of power in the 7th mandate, the provincial administration has adhered to laws and regulations. Through cooperation with various departments, armed forces, local administrations, citizens, the private sector, civil society organizations, and development partners, the provincial administration has ensured administrative continuity, provided public services, and fostered development across nearly all sectors. The physical infrastructure in both religious and secular domains within the province has also seen continuous development. Dr. Chhiv Yisang stated that the primary objective of the mission was to understand the implementation of laws and regulations, specifically examining the application of the media law and labor law, and the effectiveness of information dissemination within the province's jurisdiction. He also aimed to learn about the provincial administration's achievements, challenges, requests, solutions, and future development vision. Furthermore, discussions covered foreign relations and border affairs, evaluating efforts to strengthen friendly relations with neighboring provinces and enhance regional cooperation. The strengthening of close ties between Cambodia and its neighboring countries was also a point of discussion. Source: CPP Cambodia
