Hai Phong accelerates identification of unnamed fallen soldiers

Hai Phong City in northern Vietnam is accelerating the identification of unnamed fallen soldiers' remains, ahead of its original schedule. Specifically, the Nhi Chieu ward faces the largest number of unidentified graves in the city, with 133 such sites, and DNA sampling and identification efforts are proceeding at a rapid pace. According to Tran Hong Tuc, Vice Chairman of the Nhi Chieu People's Committee, the ward requires sampling from 133 unidentified graves across three cemeteries, aiming to complete the collection within approximately 15 days. Concurrently, DNA samples from the families of fallen soldiers will be collected for comparison and identity verification. This initiative aims to identify the remains of numerous soldiers who perished in past conflicts, including the Vietnam War, and to bring peace to their surviving families. In Vietnam, the identification and repatriation of fallen soldiers' remains are considered a matter of national importance, with ongoing efforts by local authorities. Previously, similar initiatives were intensified in Thanh Hoa Province, and Ho Chi Minh City has reaffirmed comprehensive support for meritorious individuals. Families repatriating the remains of fallen soldiers also receive benefits such as free rail travel. Hai Phong's swift action reflects the broader societal will in Vietnam to honor fallen soldiers, pass on the memory of war to future generations, and strengthen the desire for peace.
