Toyota Designates Philippines as Regional Auto Tech Training Hub for Asia

Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) has reinforced its strategic position in the regional automotive landscape after being designated by Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) as the official regional training hub for Body, Paint, and Estimation (BPE) instructors across Asian affiliates. In a news release on Thursday, TMP said its appointment by TMA followed a rigorous capability assessment by the regional headquarters, which validated the expertise of Filipino instructors, the leadership of TMP in training delivery, and the advanced infrastructure of its manufacturing facility in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. The inaugural leg of trainings kicked off from September 7 to 18, 2026. Body repair instructors from Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and Pakistan participated in intensive theoretical and practical modules led by TMP’s local training team, the company said. Slated to run through 2029, TMP said the multi-year program will feature three specialized training courses in its initial year to accommodate the growing network of regional affiliates. The company said the latest development followed a series of operational achievements for the local subsidiary, including the acquisition of two global certifications by TMP’s BPE team earlier this year, with advanced master-level certifications lined up through 2027. —VAL, GMA News
