National Bank of Cambodia Places Chief Commercial Bank (Cambodia) Under Provisional Administration

The National Bank of Cambodia has announced its decision to place Chief Commercial Bank (Cambodia) under provisional administration, citing deficiencies in the bank's compliance with current regulations. This decision will see Baker Tilly (Cambodia) appointed as the provisional administrator for a period of three months, commencing September 21, 2026. The primary role of the provisional administrator will be to assess the situation of Chief Commercial Bank (Cambodia) and report its findings to the National Bank of Cambodia. This report will serve as the basis for determining further actions concerning the bank. During the provisional administration period, the administrator will be granted the authority to manage and represent Chief Commercial Bank (Cambodia) in all its operations. This may include the temporary suspension of deposit withdrawals and certain non-essential expense payments. Borrowers with outstanding loans are still required to fulfill their repayment obligations as usual.
