Cambodia Highlights AI Development Efforts at World Internet Conference
Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications participated in the World Internet Conference in Xi'an, China, showcasing the nation's progress and strategy in AI development. The focus was on 'agentic AI', emphasizing the importance of human resource development and infrastructure.
Mr. Hak Sokheng, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC), led a delegation to participate in the World Internet Conference held in Xi'an, China, from July 21-22, 2026. During the conference, Mr. Hak Sokheng attended the ministerial-level meeting and delivered a speech at the forum on Innovation and Joint Development of Agentic AI. The speech highlighted Cambodia's achievements and efforts in AI development, spearheaded by the MPTC. Key areas of focus included strengthening human resources, building infrastructure, promoting the adoption and use of AI, fostering international cooperation, and establishing AI governance, particularly for the agentic AI ecosystem. The National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence is expected to serve as a crucial guide for the adoption, development, and governance of AI, including agentic AI. The conference aimed to discuss and explore opportunities for the development of the Digital Silk Road, attracting approximately 800 participants, including ministers, vice ministers, and leaders from around 50 countries and regions, international organizations, the private sector, and researchers.
