Saudel intensifies into severe tropical storm outside PAR, may enhance monsoon rains

Tropical cyclone Saudel, monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), intensified into a severe tropical storm on Friday. While direct landfall in the Philippines is unlikely, it may enhance the monsoon, potentially causing heavy rains in parts of the country.
