Juan was reported missing to the Kapangan MDRRMO on September 5, prompting an initial search by barangay officials and community volunteers. The municipal disaster office later activated its search and rescue team and coordinated with other responding agencies and the La Union towns of Bagulin and Naguilian. Based on the initial reports, the individual might have been swept away by water current along the river between the boundary of Gaswiling and Sagubo. Authorities believe the individual went to the river to catch fish as fishing equipment were later found in the area. /jpv
