Emergency Declared for National Highway 3 and Ho Chi Minh Road in Thai Nguyen Due to Disaster

Vietnam's Ministry of Construction has issued Decision No. 1660/QĐ-BXD, declaring a state of emergency due to natural disasters to address damage to transportation infrastructure on National Highway 3 and the Ho Chi Minh Road passing through Thai Nguyen province. This declaration prioritizes the recovery of infrastructure in the affected areas. The declaration of a state of emergency is not limited to Thai Nguyen province. Lam Dong province has also declared a similar emergency due to natural disasters at Prenn Pass. Furthermore, in Dak Snao village, Lam Dong province, a disaster emergency related to land subsidence has been announced. Sơn La province has declared emergencies in five communes, and Can Tho city has also declared emergencies at multiple locations prone to landslides. These instances indicate that natural disasters are having a severe impact on infrastructure across Vietnam. Vietnam has experienced sustained economic growth over the years. However, due to its geographical characteristics, the country is constantly exposed to the risks of natural disasters. In particular, mountainous and coastal regions frequently suffer from heavy rain, floods, and landslides, which severely impact infrastructure. The government considers balancing disaster preparedness and infrastructure development as a crucial task, though responses always face challenges. Emergency declarations like this one highlight the severity of the damage and the necessity for prompt action. Under the one-party system, swift decision-making and resource allocation are possible through government directives, yet more nuanced approaches are also needed to consider local realities and the impact on residents.
