BARMM Forms School Safety Task Force to Protect Learners

The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is spearheading the formation of a multi-sectoral School Safety Task Force (SSTF) to protect learners, educators, and the general public against school violence across the region. Lawyer Abubakar Katambak, MBHTE deputy minister, mentioned this initiative on Wednesday. The task force aims to enhance security within and around educational institutions, deterring violent incidents and ensuring prompt responses. BARMM, an autonomous region for Muslim communities in southern Philippines, has faced security challenges for many years. Ensuring safety in educational institutions is particularly crucial for a stable learning environment and the healthy development of children. The establishment of the SSTF signifies collaboration not only among MBHTE but also with other government agencies, law enforcement, community representatives, and education stakeholders within the region. This approach is expected to lead to comprehensive solutions for the root causes of the problem. This initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts to raise security awareness nationwide and ensure access to education. Especially with ongoing tensions in the South China Sea, efforts towards domestic stability and development are becoming increasingly important.
