Rustini Muhaimin Promotes Santri Independence Through Sewing Training

An initiative is underway in Indonesia to support the independence of Islamic boarding school (pesantren) students, commonly known as santri. This effort, spearheaded by Rustini Muhaimin, aims to equip santri with practical skills so they can earn a living in society after graduation. Specifically, a sewing training program has been introduced. Through this program, santri are expected to learn skills such as garment production and repair. This will provide them with a foundation for securing employment in the tailoring industry or starting their own businesses after completing their studies at the pesantren. In Indonesia, many young people receive their education at pesantren, but challenges remain regarding their post-graduation pathways. In particular, while they delve deeply into Islamic teachings, there can be a gap between this and the vocational skills demanded by modern society. The current sewing training seeks to bridge this gap and offer a concrete path for santri to achieve economic independence. Rustini Muhaimin anticipates that this program will lead to the empowerment of santri and, in turn, contribute to the overall development of Indonesian society.
