Cambodian Government Disciplines Police School Instructor, Strips Rank

The Cambodian government has decided to strip Sok Nyda, a police school instructor with the rank of Colonel (Identification Number: 73826), of his position and reassign him as a general officer as a disciplinary measure. This decision was made at the request of the Minister of Interior and approved by the 7th mandate National Assembly, based on Sub-decree No. 597 ANK.TT dated July 14, 2026. Sok Nyda was a national police officer and held the position of Level 2 Senior Police Instructor within the National Police Instructor Council, under the Cambodia Academy. Following this disciplinary action, he will be removed from his role and reassigned as a general officer. This measure demonstrates the Cambodian government's firm stance on maintaining discipline and accountability among public officials in their duties. The disciplinary action against an instructor at a police academy, an educational institution, suggests that there may have been specific issues related to his professional conduct. Under the long-standing administration of former Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia has pursued efforts to enhance the efficiency and discipline of its government and administrative bodies.
