A spokesperson for Myanmar’s Presidential Office stated that a protest by a Member of Parliament during the visit of Myanmar’s State Administration Council Chairman Min Aung Hlaing to the Thai Parliament would be considered a ‘free expression of will’. It is known that during the visit of State Administration Council Chairman Min Aung Hlaing to the Thai Parliament on the morning of this day (August 7) to meet with the Speaker of the Thai Parliament, at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, one of the Thai parliamentarians protested. In response to inquiries about the incident, Presidential Office spokesperson Dr. Khine Khine Soe replied, “We went to meet the Speaker of the Thai Parliament at that time. We did not notice that at that time. I was also present. But I saw news appearing on the internet. After looking back, it is true that a Member of Parliament from Thailand protested outside the parliament, not inside, and we saw it in the video. So, I watched this video, and I consider it as his free expression of will.” It is known that the Thai parliamentarian who protested when State Administration Council Chairman Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to Thailand, arrived at the Thai Parliament to meet and discuss with the Speaker of the Thai Parliament, is a Member of Parliament from the People’s Party, one of Thailand’s opposition parties. Presidential Office spokesperson Dr. Khine Khine Soe said, “There will be many people to meet there, and many groups welcoming him. The protester is only one person. Therefore, just as many people warmly welcomed him, we consider that those who did not like him expressed their will.” State Administration Council Chairman Min Aung Hlaing, who made a two-day official visit to Thailand, held separate discussions with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and held talks between Myanmar and Thailand. In addition, officials accompanying State Administration Council Chairman Min Aung Hlaing on the trip and Thai officials exchanged documents between Myanmar and Thailand. Similarly, State Administration Council Chairman Min Aung Hlaing attended the Myanmar-Thailand Economic Forum 2026 and delivered a keynote speech.
