Vietnam Builds New Growth Corridor Through Key National Projects
The Vietnamese National Assembly deliberated on key national projects including the establishment of Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh cities, the Hanoi Capital Region Ring Road No. 5, and adjustments to the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway investment policy. These initiatives are expected to drive new economic growth.
On August 6, the Vietnamese National Assembly convened to deliberate on key national projects. These include the establishment of two new cities, Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh, the investment policy for the Hanoi Capital Region Ring Road No. 5, and adjustments to the investment policy for the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway. These national pivotal projects are anticipated to construct new growth corridors for the Vietnamese economy and foster sustainable development. Specifically, proposals include an investment of approximately 290 trillion VND (around 1.7 trillion JPY) for the Hanoi Capital Region Ring Road No. 5 and an additional investment exceeding 86 trillion VND (over 500 billion JPY) for the adjustment of the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway investment policy. Such large-scale infrastructure investments are expected to significantly contribute to improving logistics efficiency, promoting industrial clustering, and strengthening inter-regional connectivity. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic growth, achieving remarkable development driven by foreign direct investment (FDI) and the manufacturing sector. However, infrastructure development is crucial for maintaining and expanding this growth. These projects not only aim to revitalize the domestic economy but also hold the potential to enhance regional cooperation and underscore Vietnam's importance in global supply chains. The article also touches upon "floating solar power," highlighting efforts to expand investment in renewable energy and leverage Vietnam's potential resources. While navigating a complex relationship with China, Vietnam aims for economic independence and enhanced international standing. Infrastructure investments based on such national strategies represent a vital step towards achieving these goals.
