AIIB President Pledges Continued Support for Vietnam's Infrastructure Development

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Jin Liqun pledged continued support for Vietnam's infrastructure development. Vietnamese Prime Minister Hung noted that Vietnam is transforming its development model toward greater reliance on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, affirming that Vietnam wishes to strengthen its long-term partnership with the AIIB, particularly in strategic infrastructure development, green transition, and climate change adaptation. President Jin mentioned that the AIIB was urged to support Vietnam’s infrastructure development projects and asked for support in mobilizing resources for major projects. He emphasized that the AIIB is an important partner in achieving Vietnam's development goals and is ready to support the country's sustainable growth. Vietnam recognizes that large-scale infrastructure investments, including roads, ports, and energy infrastructure, are crucial for maintaining and accelerating its economic growth. However, these projects require substantial funding that cannot be solely covered by domestic capital, making resource mobilization from international financial institutions vital. Support from international bodies like the AIIB is a key element for Vietnam to achieve its development objectives. The Communist Party of Vietnam has set a goal to become a developed country by 2030 and a modern, high-income country with socialist orientations by 2045. Infrastructure modernization is indispensable for achieving this ambition, and support from the AIIB is expected to significantly contribute to the realization of this national strategy.
