Vietnam Border Guards Honor Units for Outstanding Achievements Against Cross-Border Crimes

On August 6, the Border Guard Command held a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City to honor units and individuals who have achieved outstanding success in combating drug trafficking, human smuggling, and dismantling online scam operations along the Vietnam-Cambodia border. The ceremony highlighted the Border Guard's contributions to eradicating these criminal organizations. Notably, the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard was recognized for successfully executing two major operations, dismantling multiple criminal groups. Vietnam, as a one-party state, has pursued economic growth for many years. Concurrently, cross-border crime prevention remains a critical challenge for national stability and citizen safety. The border with Cambodia, due to its proximity, is particularly susceptible to transnational crimes such as drug and human trafficking, and increasingly, online scams. This commendation not only boosts the morale of the border guards but also demonstrates to the public the nation's serious commitment to maintaining security. It can also be interpreted as a sign of Vietnam's willingness to contribute to regional stability and security. Vietnam recognizes the importance of border management in its relations with China, and similar crime prevention efforts could lead to strengthened cooperation with neighboring countries.
