China Conducts Naval, Air Drills Around Scarborough Shoal

China's military announced it conducted joint naval and air drills around the disputed Scarborough Shoal, which the Philippines claims. Beijing stated the exercises were a "necessary response" to actions by "certain countries" undermining regional peace. The Philippines has not yet issued a comment.
