Ho Chi Minh City Park Yields Remains of 150 Fallen Soldiers

The recovery effort in Le Thi Rieng Park, Ho Chi Minh City, has unearthed the remains of 150 soldiers, believed to be casualties of the Vietnam War. As of 4 p.m. on July 29, search teams had recovered 128 individual sets of remains and 22 others from four mass graves, alongside numerous personal artifacts. Search teams are continuing excavations at the second search site (Area B) within the park. They are also expanding operations by removing over 30 cubic meters of soil from the first burial trench in Area A and 20 cubic meters from the trench in Area B, to access locations believed to hold additional remains. This measure aims to allow the exhumation of the fallen soldiers' remains with dignity and respect. During the day's operation, six more sets of martyrs' remains were recovered in Area B, with four of these found alongside personal belongings. The Ho Chi Minh City High Command is currently preparing to relocate the memorial stele in the search area to facilitate further excavation in Area A. Authorities have pledged to expand the search and recover all remaining martyrs' remains, ensuring they are brought home in tribute to their sacrifice and with the deep respect of the Party, local authorities, armed forces, and the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
