New Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes to be Appointed Soon, Kuntadi's Name Emerges as Frontrunner

President Prabowo Subianto is slated to sign a Presidential Decree (Keppres) concerning the appointment of the new Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) in the near future. Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that the Presidential Decree is expected to be finalized and signed within one to two days, following the deliberation mechanism within the Final Assessment Team (TPA). "We request time for discussions according to the mechanism in the Final Assessment Team. Insyaallah, within 1-2 days, a decision will be made, and the President will sign the Presidential Decree on the appointment of new officials," Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday. Proposal for New Officials in the Attorney General's Office Prasetyo explained that Attorney General ST Burhanuddin submitted a list of proposed candidates for Jampidsus to the President last week. This action was taken after the previous official, Febrie Adriansyah, officially resigned. In addition to the Jampidsus position, the Presidential Decree also includes proposals for the appointment of several other strategic officials within the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung). However, the Minister of Law and Human Rights remains reluctant to disclose the names of the proposed candidates before the Presidential Decree is officially signed by the President. Nevertheless, Prasetyo confirmed that Kuntadi, the Head of the Attorney General's Asset Recovery Agency, is among the strong names proposed by the Attorney General to fill the Jampidsus position. Background of Jampidsus' Long Vacancy The filling of the Jampidsus position follows the resignation of Febrie Adriansyah on Saturday morning, July 11. On the same day, Febrie was officially named a suspect in alleged corruption and money laundering criminal cases (TPPU). The legal case involving Febrie is currently being handled by the Attorney General's Office after being transferred from the National Police's Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor).
