Cambodia to Modernize Meteorological Information System, Upgrading Rada Techo Sen 1 Radar

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology of Cambodia held an internal meeting on September 18 to discuss the modernization of the country's meteorological information system, 'Rada Techo Sen 1'. The meeting was led by Secretary of State SIB Sunheng, with the participation of leaders and experts from the Meteorology Department. The 'Rada Techo Sen 1' system, currently in operation, was installed in 2011 and has been in use for approximately 15 years. Both the hardware and some software components have become obsolete and are no longer up-to-date, posing a high risk to the sustainability of its operations. Therefore, the modernization of this system aims to enhance stability, increase efficiency, and ensure the continuity of providing meteorological data and services with greater accuracy and high confidence to the public as well as various related sectors. This modernization is expected to be a crucial step in improving Cambodia's capacity to respond to natural disasters and in supporting decision-making across a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, aviation, and infrastructure development. The introduction of the latest technology is anticipated to enable more timely and accurate weather forecasting, thereby contributing to the safety of the public's lives.
