Chiang Rai Enhances Tourism Safety with Volunteer Training for 2026

CHIANG RAI – The Chiang Rai Provincial Tourism and Sports Office has implemented a new training program for local tourism and sports volunteers, aiming to enhance safety and service standards for the growing number of visitors. This initiative is part of the “Cooperation Project for Solving Tourism Problems, Budget Year 2026.” The primary objective of this effort is to improve the skills of tourism and sports volunteers across the region. By boosting their service abilities and safety standards, Chiang Rai Province seeks to support its expanding tourism industry and elevate its appeal as an international travel destination. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Sereeth Chaiyananta, the Tourism and Sports Officer for Chiang Rai Province, along with key officials including the Provincial Tourism and Culture Officer, representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Thailand Tourism Office, local police, and the President of the Chiang Rai Tourism Association, all of whom expressed their support for the project. The training covered a wide range of essential skills for modern, high-quality hospitality. Volunteers learned to act as excellent hosts, improve their daily communication, and acquire basic foreign language proficiency. They also aimed to deepen their knowledge of local tourist attractions to provide accurate advice to travelers. Safety was a critical component of the training curriculum. Participants received hands-on training in basic first aid, life-saving techniques, and proper cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). They also learned about establishing rapid coordination mechanisms during emergencies to ensure tourist safety. Furthermore, the project aims to build a strong and unified network within the province. Government agencies, public organizations, and private travel businesses are strengthening their collaboration, with plans to monitor the region and support sustainable community tourism management in the long term. Skills in utilizing technology, smart applications, and artificial intelligence (AI) were also developed to adapt to the modern digital era. This is expected to lead to faster and more effective service delivery for both Thai and international tourists. Chiang Rai Province is recognized for its high tourism potential, known for its rich nature, deep history, and diverse ethnic groups. Local authorities understand that training frontline personnel is key to showcasing these remarkable assets. The skill development of service providers builds trust with travelers worldwide and promotes the sustainable growth of the tourism economy. When visitors feel safe and welcomed, the likelihood of repeat visits increases. Following the training, Mr. Sereeth Chaiyananta presided over the closing ceremony, presenting official certificates to the participating volunteers.
