Prabowo Reveals Nearly 2,500 Bridges Built in Villages

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has revealed that approximately 2,500 bridges have been constructed in the nation's villages, emphasizing this as a tangible achievement directly benefiting the public. He stated that the government is responding swiftly to community demands received through various channels. Speaking at an event in Jakarta on August 7, 2026, President Prabowo said, "The people cry out, and through technology, we respond quickly. Today, we are nearing the completion of nearly 2,500 bridges across all villages in Indonesia, many of which are often overlooked by many Indonesian elites." According to the President, the government has allocated approximately Rp 1 billion in village funds annually over the past decade, which should have been sufficient for bridge construction. He noted that the cost of building a village bridge can range from an average of Rp 400 million to Rp 2-3 billion for larger structures, suggesting that village leaders should have been able to manage these projects. However, he stressed a focus on solving current problems rather than assigning blame for the past. Furthermore, President Prabowo affirmed that the central government would intervene if local authorities fail to address the needs of their constituents. "If governors, regents, district heads, or village chiefs cannot address the outcry of the people in the villages, we will not hesitate for the President to intervene directly and fulfill what the people demand," he added. In addition to bridge construction, the President reported that tens of thousands of schools have been renovated. The target is to renovate over 70,000 schools by the end of the year, with a goal of 100,000 schools next year. He aims to complete the renovation of all schools in Indonesia within the next three years. Plans are also in place to renovate health centers (puskesmas) that have been in service for over 30 years.
