Vietnam Honors Fallen Heroes: Efforts in Photo Restoration and Remains Collection

In Vietnam, activities to honor heroes who sacrificed for national peace and independence are underway across the country. In particular, efforts to restore portraits of fallen soldiers and provide them to bereaved families are being implemented in many regions, including Ho Chi Minh City. In Ho Chi Minh City, military commands have launched programs to restore portraits of fallen soldiers, responding to requests from bereaved families. The restoration of portraits using the latest technology vividly revives the image of the deceased, bringing deep emotion to the families. For example, in Nam Ha commune, Ha Nam province, portraits of ten female heroes were restored using new technology and presented. In Hanoi, the capital, 130 portraits have also been restored and delivered to families. Furthermore, the collection and commemoration of the remains of fallen soldiers are positioned as important activities. In Hanoi's first war cemetery, sample collection of remains has commenced. In An Giang province, 235 sets of remains of fallen soldiers were commemorated and buried together. These activities are being concentrated around the Commemoration Day for Fallen Soldiers and the Wounded (Thương binh-Liệt sĩ Day) on July 27th. These diligent activities, such as portrait restoration and remains collection, are a manifestation of Vietnam's strong will to remember past sacrifices and pass them on to future generations. In Vietnam, under its single-party system, the inheritance of such historical memories holds significant meaning in praising national heroes and promoting national unity. While continuing its economic growth, Vietnam's consideration for the scars of past wars and its victims serves as a foundation for maintaining social stability and national solidarity.
