Road, bridges along Kamamaung-Phapone route damaged by terrorist incidents being repaired

It is reported that the Tatmadaw columns, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, have undertaken the repair and reconstruction of roads and bridges along the Kamamaung-Phapone route that were mined and destroyed by terrorist groups. It is reported that the Tatmadaw columns have been carrying out phased operations to open the Kamamaung-Phapone route, which was temporarily controlled by terrorist groups, by dividing their columns from May 5, 2026. On May 8, Kyaukkwainlay village; on May 10, Wetthokho village and Mizain Chaungphyar village; on May 16, Nayka village; on May 18, Ye Pu village; on May 24, Mile (40) village; on May 31, Nokhedo village and Bawkgyot village; on June 3, Katainti village; on June 23, Bawkgyolay village; on June 24, Shan Ywa village; on June 27, Taungthu Su village; on July 25, Phalunlay village; and on September 7, it is reported that Phalungyi village, approximately 1800 meters east of mile post 28/5 on the Kamamaung-Phapone route, has been recaptured and brought under control. During these recapture and control operations, 56 clashes occurred, and 11 temporary strongholds, 13 enemy bodies, 15 assorted weapons, ammunition and related materials, 24 FPV drones, 243 assorted mines, walkie-talkies, and personal belongings were seized from the terrorist groups. It is reported that some security force members were killed. Furthermore, the Tatmadaw columns have carried out territorial security operations along the said route, and on the other hand, military engineering corps members, in cooperation with officials from the relevant ministry, have repaired and reconstructed the bridges destroyed by terrorist groups. Ye Pu Bridge was repaired on June 23, 2026, Mile 40 Bridge on June 24, and Kyindawdon Bridge on August 24. It is reported that motor vehicles and travelers can now pass through these roads and bridges as usual. It is reported that the Tatmadaw columns will continue to strive to recapture and open the remaining Phalungyi-Phapone section of the Kamamaung-Phapone route as soon as possible, with the participation of the local people. It is also reported that operations to eliminate terrorists who are committing acts of terrorism that undermine national development and the socio-economic lives of the local people will continue through Counter-Terrorism Operations.
