Kampong Speu Governor Orders Strict Measures Against Online Scams

Kampong Speu Provincial Governor Dr. Chhem Chansophoan, attending the inauguration ceremony of the new governor of Phnom Sruoch district, Mr. Um Samoeun, strongly ordered the eradication of online scams and urged public vigilance. The governor praised the achievements of the former Phnom Sruoch district governor and congratulated the newly appointed governor, Mr. Um Samoeun. He urged the new governor to perform his duties with maximum capacity and a high sense of responsibility to provide public services to the people quickly and efficiently, and to continue strengthening the 'Village-Commune-District Safety' policy. Furthermore, Governor Dr. Chhem Chansophoan strictly instructed the new governor and all commune authorities to prioritize the prompt and transparent resolution of land disputes among local residents. He also emphasized the importance for the new district leadership to foster good relations and cooperation with the heads of provincial departments and agencies, and especially to maintain 'internal solidarity'. The governor urged all levels of authorities to pay close attention to waste management and hygiene in public areas, particularly along National Road No. 4, to avoid indiscriminate dumping that harms the environment and the province's image. Dr. Chhem Chansophoan called on civil servants, armed forces, and local authorities to jointly address several other important core tasks. These include cracking down on and eradicating all forms of illegal drugs and gambling, especially the prevention and suppression of online scams. He instructed the public to be vigilant against technological fraud tactics such as money transfer scams and the hijacking of Telegram or Facebook accounts, and to cooperate with specialized law enforcement agencies to effectively combat these cybercrimes.
