A delegation from Cambodia's Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) inspected the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone and others in Svay Rieng province to assess development progress and investment. The zones have attracted auto tire and brake component factories, contributing to regional economic revitalization.

A delegation from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) visited the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone and the Firstson Kiga Special Economic Zone in Svay Rieng province to inspect the progress of development and investment in these areas. On the morning of Friday, the 3rd day of the waxing moon of the second month of the Kradet year, the 8th year of the era of the Buddha, corresponding to July 17, 2026, Mr. Chea Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), led a CDC delegation on a visit to the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone and the Firstson Kiga Special Economic Zone. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the progress of development and to examine the production chains of ZODO TIRE (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD., a car tire manufacturing factory, and HAIZHIGUAN (CAMBODIA) INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD., a metal brake drum manufacturing factory. The visit was warmly and enthusiastically welcomed by the developers of both special economic zones, as well as senior leaders of the Svay Rieng Provincial Administration and officials representing various ministries and institutions stationed at the special economic zone administration. Secretary-General Chea Vuthy highlighted the history of the establishment of special economic zones under the high initiative of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which transformed vast fields and rice paddies into special economic zones, attracting numerous investment projects. He further stated that during the 7th legislature, under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Prime Minister has always paid close attention and personally monitored, while also encouraging the development of special economic zones. Currently, special economic zones have achieved remarkable growth, increasing to 65 in number. Among these, 39 special economic zones are operating actively and have attracted a total of over 250,000 local laborers, with a demand for more than 35,000 additional workers. Special economic zones have contributed to national socio-economic development, particularly by introducing new industrial clusters, especially the car tire manufacturing industry, the vehicle assembly and mounting industry, the bicycle assembly industry, the manufacturing industry for all types of electronic components, the furniture component manufacturing industry, and the furniture product manufacturing industry, among others. These industries provide decent employment and wages for our citizens in the local areas. This also demonstrates the confidence of investors in the Cambodian government, showing that despite the uncertainties in the global economy, the development of special economic zones and investment in these zones continue to move forward without interruption. Specifically, in Svay Rieng province, there are 13 special economic zones, all of which are currently in operation, with a total of 421 investment projects, creating approximately 115,000 jobs.
