Phnom Penh House Fire Caused by Suspected Electrical Short

A fire broke out in Phnom Penh on May 3rd around 1 PM, in O Oudong 1 Village, Prek Pra Commune, Chamkar Mon District, completely destroying a wooden house. Numerous household items were also lost in the blaze. According to nearby residents, intense smoke was observed billowing from the upper floor of the house before the fire erupted. Neighbors attempted to extinguish the flames using fire extinguishers and water hoses, but the fire's intensity made it uncontrollable, prompting them to report the incident to the authorities and request emergency fire services. Specialized units from the Firefighting and Rescue Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, in collaboration with relevant authorities, dispatched a total of 10 fire trucks to the scene, including vehicles from the municipal police, the Ministry of Interior, a brewery, and Kō Nōra. The firefighting efforts successfully brought the blaze under control. The fire caused damage to one two-story wooden house with a stone base and a significant amount of household belongings. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities. Preliminary investigations by experts suggest that the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit (faulty wiring).
