Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed his hope that outgoing Japanese Ambassador H.E. Ueno Atsushi will continue to advocate for Cambodia-Japan relations even after his diplomatic tenure concludes. During a farewell meeting held at the Senate Palace on July 14, the Senate President thanked Ambassador Ueno for his dedicated service in elevating bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, according to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith. During the talks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highlighted that the relationship between the two nations has reached historic heights, noting steady progress and mutual benefit across several key sectors. Security & Defense: Enhanced strategic alignment and security cooperation. Economy & Trade: Rising bilateral trade and robust Japanese investment in Cambodia. People-to-People Exchanges: Flourishing cultural connections and mutual tourism. The Senate President also conveyed Cambodia's deep appreciation for Japan's historical and ongoing contributions to the Kingdom's development, specifically praising Japan’s invaluable assistance in the Cambodian peace process and nationwide demining and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance.
