Mekong-Lancang Peace Ship Initiative Launched for Second Time, Fostering Regional Cooperation and Development

On August 5, 2026, H.E. Kanharith, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Cambodian National Secretariat for Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, participated in and delivered a congratulatory speech at the official launching ceremony of the second "Mekong-Lancang Peace Ship" project. The event was organized by the Asia Vision Institute and co-chaired by H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the Foreign Relations, International Cooperation, and Information Committee and Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly Youth Parliament, and H.E. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Approximately 70 participants attended, including ambassadors and representatives from Mekong-Lancang countries. The "Mekong-Lancang Peace Ship" initiative, under the theme "Mekong for the People, Peace, and Prosperity," supported by the Mekong-Lancang Special Cooperation Fund 2025, stands as a meaningful testament to the shared aspiration of the people in the Mekong-Lancang sub-region. It highlights their profound understanding of the true value of peace and their deep commitment to preserving it, living together harmoniously. This 7-day training and study tour program along the mighty Mekong River will provide a special platform for intellectuals and young leaders from Mekong-Lancang countries to connect, exchange views, and strengthen cooperation. Based on the spirit of mutual understanding and respect, these meaningful exchanges will contribute to reinforcing friendship among the younger generation and advancing the shared vision of a future community characterized by peace, stability, connectivity, and sustainable development in the Mekong-Lancang sub-region.
