AKP Phnom Penh, July 10, 2026 -- The Republic of Korea has lifted its travel ban for several areas in Cambodia, citing improved security conditions, according to South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted by Yonhap news agency. The Ministry lowered its travel alert for Bokor Mountain in Kampot province and the border cities of Bavet and Poipet from Level 4, the highest travel warning, to Level 3, which advises South Korean nationals to leave the area. The travel ban had been in effect since October 2025. The Ministry said the decision to ease the restriction followed significant improvements in the security situation, noting that crimes involving South Korean nationals in Cambodia fell by 94 percent in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year. Under South Korea's Passport Act, citizens who enter or remain in areas subject to a travel ban without government approval may face criminal and administrative penalties.
