BANG LAMUNG – Police have apprehended a 31-year-old Chinese national, identified only as Mr. Yu, in the Huai Yai sub-district near Pattaya, Chonburi province. Yu is suspected of being the ringleader of the PAOFENG network, accused of laundering nearly one billion baht for international online gambling operations. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) tracked and detained Yu outside a housing estate. He was wanted under arrest warrants for his alleged involvement in the large-scale illicit fund laundering scheme. Authorities believe Yu was operating the criminal network from within Thailand, and his arrest is a result of collaboration with international law enforcement agencies. The PAOFENG network is reportedly involved in facilitating funds for online gambling activities that span across borders. This operation highlights ongoing concerns about Thailand being used as a base for international criminal organizations.
