Cambodia's Ministry of Agriculture Strengthens Cooperation for Local Agricultural Services

His Excellency Yang Saingkum, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, participated in a consultation workshop on "Strengthening Cooperation and Coordination Mechanisms between the Department of Agricultural Extension and Development Partners in Supporting the Work of Commune-District Agricultural Officers," organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension in collaboration with World Vision Cambodia, held at the Battambang Agricultural Research Station in Siem Reap province on September 22, 2026. The workshop aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Department of Agricultural Extension and development partners to support the implementation of the work of commune-district agricultural officers and enhance agricultural services at the local level. His Excellency Yang Saingkum emphasized that the priority work of commune-district agricultural officers must be implemented in line with the government's Priority Policies 5 and 6, focusing on providing agricultural technical services at the local level and contributing to increasing farmers' income. In this regard, commune-district agricultural officers are the core force that must go down to the grassroots and work directly with farmers to understand and solve challenges, promote the adoption of appropriate agricultural techniques, and compile and strengthen modern agricultural communities to enhance their production capacity and connect to the market more effectively. The objective of the workshop is to agree on the direction and priorities of cooperation in supporting commune-district agricultural officers, as well as to link the programs and projects of development partners with the Department of Agricultural Extension. Focus will be placed on establishing coordination mechanisms, sharing information, and jointly monitoring the implementation of work, as well as strengthening the capacity of commune-district agricultural officers, developing demonstration sites, and enhancing farmers' understanding to broaden the farmer network.
