Cambodia Road Project Bid Sees Significant Cost Savings

Tbong Khmum Province: A bid for the construction of a 200-meter concrete road was held at the Ou Rang Ov district hall on the morning of September 17th. The bidding process was well-organized and competitive, with seven companies participating. The result saw a significant cost reduction of over 60% from the initial budget, leading to substantial savings for the state. Authorities have instructed the winning company to ensure the road is completed promptly to facilitate easier travel for residents to pagodas during the upcoming Pchum Ben festival. Mr. Chea Narun, Governor of Ou Rang Ov district, stated that this was the second bidding process organized by Commune Mien. The first bid was for an irrigation system to support rice cultivation, where the project for a 6-kilometer canal was expanded to over 10 kilometers due to competitive bidding, resulting in financial gains for the state. The Ou Rang Ov district governor expressed confidence in all participating companies to adhere to ethical and professional standards. He warned that companies found to be using substandard materials or construction methods would be blacklisted by the Ministry of Interior. For the 200-meter concrete road in Commune Mien, seven companies competed. The winning bid went to Av Seila Company for 41 million Riel, representing a reduction of over 60%. This saving allows the state to allocate funds for additional concrete road construction. The district administration will assign a team to monitor the company responsible for constructing the concrete road in Klong Chak village, Commune Mien, Ou Rang Ov district, to ensure it is completed quickly before the Pchum Ben season and that its quality guarantees long-term usability. Av Seila Company, the contractor for the 200-meter concrete road project, affirmed its commitment to constructing the road according to the technical standards outlined in the bid book. Mr. Heng Khon, Commune Chief of Mien, noted that during his three terms as commune chief, concrete roads have been developed in nine out of fourteen villages. Plans are in place to construct roads in four more villages, totaling 790 meters, by 2027, to ease the transportation of agricultural products for residents. Source: CEN Cambodia
