Mekong Delta Hosts Online Walking Event to Boost Safe Traffic Awareness

On September 15, an awards ceremony was held for an inter-provincial online walking competition in Vietnam's Mekong Delta, marking the participation of students from Vĩnh Long and An Giang provinces. This initiative highlights their practical steps towards promoting safe, environmentally friendly transportation and contributing to the development of livable communities. The event was launched as part of the "Youth Action for Livable Cities" campaign. In recent years, Vietnam has faced increasing traffic safety challenges due to economic growth, rising traffic volumes, and urbanization. Ensuring the safety of schoolchildren is a pressing concern, prompting the government to implement various awareness campaigns and strengthen traffic regulations. Past initiatives include "Project Vietnam 2000" aimed at enhancing traffic safety for children, and a report from Hanoi detailing the processing of over 1,200 student-related traffic violations in a single week. Traffic safety education is emphasized at the beginning of the school year, and safety checks for school transport vehicles have been intensified. This online walking event leverages technology to engage participants across a wide geographical area, aiming to broadly raise awareness about traffic safety.
