Siem Reap Police Aid Residents Affected by Storm
A severe storm in Siem Reap province has caused damage to homes and infrastructure across five districts. The provincial police have swiftly initiated aid operations for affected residents, assessing damage and commencing recovery efforts. No human casualties have been reported.
In Siem Reap province, Cambodia, a severe storm accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds struck on the afternoon of July 12th, causing significant damage across five districts within Siem Reap city. According to a report from the Siem Reap Provincial Police Headquarters' Disaster Preparedness Team, Major General Hout Sothy led police forces to the affected areas immediately to provide assistance to the residents. The damages reported include: in Svay Dangkum commune, three trees fell, one billboard and one shop sign collapsed, a wooden stall with a zinc roof was destroyed, and one tuk-tuk was damaged by a fallen tree. In Krabei Real commune, four residential houses collapsed, and one house suffered damage to its roof and eaves. In Kok Chak commune, three trees fell, causing complete destruction of bathrooms and kitchens, and two political party signs (Candlelight Party) were toppled. In Soangae commune, 33 houses had their roofs and tiles blown off, with five fallen trees obstructing the road. In Chreav commune, four houses also experienced damage to their roofs and tiles. In total, the natural disaster resulted in four collapsed houses, two fallen billboards and signs, 38 houses with damaged roofs, tiles, or eaves, 12 fallen trees, one damaged tuk-tuk, damage to three bathrooms and kitchens, one collapsed stall, and two fallen political party signs. Fortunately, no human casualties were reported. Additionally, two trees fell on the road leading to Preah Khan temple, but there were no injuries.
