Bangkok Tragedy: Ex-Husband Kills Ex-Wife, Her New Partner, Then Himself
A tragic incident occurred in Bangkok on July 5, where an ex-husband shot and killed his ex-wife and her new partner before taking his own life. Familial disputes are believed to be the underlying cause.
On July 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., Pol. Sub-Lt. Phichitphon Ratchakhom, an investigator at Min Buri Police Station, received a report of a shooting with deaths and injuries at a house in Bang Chan, Khlong Sam Wa, Bangkok. He notified his superiors and rushed to the scene with Pol. Col. Somphot Thongmoon, superintendent of Min Buri Police Station, Pol. Lt. Col. Nimit Charoenbun, patrol inspector, along with detectives, forensic officers, a police medical examiner, and volunteers from Ruam Katanyu Foundation. The home was a two-story townhouse. Inside the ground-floor living room, police found the body of 35-year-old Rungsan lying on his right side near the bathroom in a pool of blood. He was wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt and black shorts, and had a gunshot wound to the right temple. A .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol was found nearby. At the foot of the stairs leading to the second floor, police found 36-year-old Piyanuch lying on her back in a pool of blood. She was wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt and jeans, and had a gunshot wound to the right temple. Near the sofa, officers found 30-year-old Worachot lying on his side with two gunshot wounds to the back of the head. He was barely breathing. Rescue workers gave him first aid before rushing him to Kasemrad Hospital. Police also collected four .380 caliber shell casings from the floor as evidence. Police later questioned 63-year-old Nidnoi, the former mother-in-law of Rungsan. She said Piyanuch was sitting and talking with Worachot on the sofa in the middle of the living room when Rungsan suddenly opened the front door and walked in. According to her statement, Rungsan said he had come to take items from his daughter’s bedroom on the second floor after the couple had separated. Nidnoi followed him upstairs, and after he got the items, she walked back down with him. As soon as they reached the lower floor, she said, Rungsan pulled a pistol from his shoulder bag and fired two shots into Worachot’s head, then shot Piyanuch once in the right temple. After that, he turned the gun on himself. She said she was shocked and frozen at the scene, and once she regained her composure, she called the police. Reporters said Rungsan had lived with Piyanuch and they had a son together. The couple later moved to Phetchabun, where Rungsan worked as a motorcycle delivery rider to support the family. Over the past two to three months, Rungsan had learned that Piyanuch was secretly seeing Worachot. That led to repeated arguments, and Piyanuch returned to her mother’s house, where the shooting later took place. Rungsan also knew that Worachot had moved into the house soon after she came back. Family members had reportedly tried to calm Rungsan after he showed signs of severe stress and talked about ending his life several times. On the morning of the shooting, Rungsan’s mother, who sells lottery tickets in Phetchabun, was traveling to Nonthaburi to receive her lottery quota at the Sanambinnam area. Rungsan told her he was going to Phuket, then offered to drive her and his son to pick up the lottery tickets. After dropping them off at the Mo Chit bus terminal, he drove straight to his ex-partner’s house, knowing that Piyanuch and Worachot were still there. Police said that was when he carried out the attack. Authorities later turned the bodies over to volunteers from Ruam Katanyu Foundation, who sent them to the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for a detailed autopsy.
