Police Chief Orders Probe into Alleged Cop Link to Murder Suspect

Thailand's National Police Chief, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, has ordered a thorough investigation into allegations that one of the suspects in the murder of two Russian siblings and a Thai family of three in Chonburi had taken narcotics from a police officer. The allegation was made by an unidentified individual on a television program hosted by "Num Kanchai". According to Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, a police spokesperson, Pol. Gen. Kittirat has made the verification of these allegations a top priority and has instructed a swift inquiry. Should the allegations be proven true, decisive measures will be taken against the involved police officer(s) on both disciplinary and criminal grounds. The Commander of the Chonburi Provincial Police has been directed to report the findings promptly. Furthermore, the Police Chief has ordered the examination of the accused officer's mobile phone to gather evidence. If other police officers are found to be involved, they too will face strict action. In the ongoing investigation, four suspects have been arrested. Pong and Thongchai Srinil were arrested in Sa Kaeo province, bordering Cambodia, where they confessed to murdering Russian siblings Diana Nazimova and Roman Nazimov. The siblings had been missing since late July. Two other suspects, Chatchanan Paen-iam (aka Fluke) and Asadang Chuawong (aka Ball), have also been arrested for allegedly participating in the robbery and murder of the Thai family of three.
