Cambodia's Ruling Party Welcomes Over 2,000 New Members in Sihanoukville

The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has officially welcomed 2,797 new members into its ranks in Sihanoukville city during a large induction ceremony held on the afternoon of Friday, August 7, 2026. The event was presided over by HE Say Sam Al, a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee and head of the government working group assigned to Sihanoukville province. The ceremony took place at the Mongkol Sethachand Center in Sihanoukville city. According to reports, Sihanoukville city comprises 4 Sangkats (districts) and 15 Phums (villages), with 55,710 registered voters and 111 polling stations. As of July 31, 2026, the city's party membership stood at 41,002, representing approximately 73.60% of the registered voters. The 2,797 new members include 1,483 women. Specifically, Sangkat 1 welcomed 1,150 members (637 women), Sangkat 2 welcomed 250 (130 women), Sangkat 3 welcomed 411 (205 women), and Sangkat 4 welcomed 986 (511 women). HE Say Sam Al expressed gratitude to the new members for their decision to join the Cambodian People's Party, describing it as a politically mature party dedicated to the nation and its people. He emphasized that their choice to engage in political life with the CPP signifies their adherence to the party's correct path. HE Say Sam Al also commended the leadership of the Sihanoukville City Party Committee for their continuous efforts in building party membership and wished success to the party branches within Sihanoukville province in their role of leading national development. He further stated that the decision of the new members to join reflects a consideration for the nation's supreme interests, urging them to bravely follow the party's correct path and leadership, taking responsibility towards the citizens. The induction of new members is attributed to the nation's ongoing achievements and development, and the long-term vision of the CPP, which is currently implementing the "Pentagonal Strategy Phase I." This strategy focuses on building human capital, strengthening the digital economy, enhancing public administration efficiency, and reinforcing good governance. The party's policies are characterized by accountability to the people, a robust organizational structure, and the capacity to lead the country towards peace, political stability, and economic prosperity.
