Cambodia's NPIC Team Wins National Robot Contest, to Represent Nation Internationally

The 13th ABU Robocon 2026 National Contest has successfully concluded in Cambodia, with eight teams from higher education and technical training institutions participating. A team from the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) emerged as the champion, earning the right to represent Cambodia at the international ABU Robocon 2026 competition to be held in Hong Kong on August 23, 2026. Following intense and captivating matches, the judging panel selected three winning teams. NPIC secured both first and second place with their teams NPIC1 and NPIC2, respectively. The third position was awarded to a team from the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC). The closing ceremony and award presentation for the 13th National Robot Contest (ABU Robocon 2026) was presided over by H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training. Key officials from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation were also in attendance. The event took place on Sunday evening, July 5, 2026, at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. H.E. Khim Vuthy, Director General of the National Television of Cambodia (TVK), stated that the first-place winning team will represent Cambodia at the international ABU Robocon 2026 in Hong Kong in August 2026. Notably, the international competition will be held under the theme 'Kung Fu Quest,' a remarkable integration of traditional Chinese martial arts and AI robot technology. The TVK Director General emphasized that the contest serves not only as a platform for Cambodian youth to showcase their engineering and technological capabilities but also as an opportunity to exchange and share experiences with young people from other countries. It aims to inspire and encourage more youth to pursue studies in technology, engineering, and innovation. He also expressed gratitude to the Royal University of Phnom Penh, partner companies, and all technical teams for their tireless efforts in making the event a proud success. The program is organized with the objective of promoting learning, research, and creativity among Cambodian youth, and to select the most capable team to represent the Kingdom of Cambodia in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Robot Contest. This competition is not only a stage for young people to demonstrate their engineering and technological prowess but also provides Cambodian students with opportunities to interact and share experiences with peers from various countries, thereby fostering greater interest in technology, engineering, and innovation. It is noteworthy that eight teams from five higher education and technical training institutions participated in the 2026 National Robot Contest: the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC), the National Technical Training Institute (NTTI), the Preah Kossomak Polytechnic Institute (PPI), the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), and the National University of Management (NUM).
