Ho Chi Minh City Hosts Exhibition Showcasing Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Through Film

Ho Chi Minh City is hosting an exhibition titled "Dấu ấn vàng son-Những mảnh ghép văn hóa Việt Nam-Thế kỷ X" (Golden Imprints - Fragments of Vietnamese Culture - 10th Century) from September 5th to 10th, showcasing the nation's 10th-century cultural heritage through film. This event is a collaboration between the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, the UNESCO Office in Vietnam, the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA), and BHD Company. The exhibition features the film "Hộ linh tráng sĩ-Bí ẩn mộ Vua Đinh" (Guardian Warriors - The Mystery of King Dinh's Tomb), directed by singer and filmmaker My Tam. The film has received significant praise following its initial screenings. It visually portrays the history and culture of 10th-century Vietnam, during the era of Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang. Alongside the film screenings, a photo exhibition titled "Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh vươn mình cùng đất nước qua góc nhìn điện ảnh" (Ho Chi Minh City's Rise with the Nation Through the Lens of Cinema) is also being held. This exhibition uses cinematic perspectives to visually communicate how Ho Chi Minh City has developed and contributed to the nation's progress. This initiative aligns with Ho Chi Minh City's designation as a UNESCO Creative City in the field of film, providing a platform to further leverage its creative potential. The city aims to tell its unique stories and promote its cultural richness both domestically and internationally through cinema. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage play a crucial role in shaping national identity and fostering patriotism. Audiovisual media, in particular, are highly effective in engaging younger generations and are expected to deepen their interest in history and culture. This exhibition represents one of Vietnam's efforts to reinterpret its past heritage using contemporary methods and present it to the global community.
